Review
The writer of AdWords Miracle claims on his website that by following his simple steps,
almost anybody can easily make $300 to $500 per day advertising on Google AdWords. AdWords
Miracle has had a solid reputation since its initial release several years ago. But does
it really deliver as well as it promises?
Like so many information products on the topic of making money online, the sales webpage
of AdWords Miracle is filled with hype and bold claims about how easy it is to make
serious money online by following secret and innovative techniques as described in the
manual. Personally, I usually find myself turned off by such hype. Nothing makes it harder
for me to remain on a webpage and continue reading it than a barrage of false promises
that can’t possibly deliver. However, I have learned that sometimes a person has to make
the effort to see past the sensationalistic writing style. Although I don’t agree that
becoming an internet tycoon is a simple matter of reading AdWords Miracle and applying the
methods found therein, AdWords Miracle does have some very good information that may be
regarded as indispensable to anyone who intends to earn money as an affiliate marketer via
paid advertising.
First off, I wouldn’t suggest this book for advanced internet marketers unless they have
little experience with Google AdWords. This book is going to most useful to persons in the
category of “I want to make money online, and I don’t have much previous experience, and
can’t afford to spend much time or money. I’m willing to learn, but I really don’t know
where to start.” If you can relate to this statement, then AdWords Miracle is an excellent
place to start.
The e-book starts off with introductions to affiliate marketing, pay-per-click advertising
in general, and Google AdWords in particular. He then provides the reader with
step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Google AdWords account, changing some of the
default options in order to save advertising dollars and increase the effectiveness of the
user’s AdWords campaigns. This is good information, because Google’s default AdWords
options are designed to make money for Google, not for the advertiser. He explains some of
the theory behind how Google determines ad rankings, and why the top ranked positions are
often paying significantly less than some of the lower-ranking competitors. His methods
demonstrate how to get premium rankings without paying a premium price. It is important to
realize at this point that Google does not function like most other pay-per-click
advertising services. The top-ranking advertisements achieve their spots more through
relevancy than through the amount of money they are bidding for their respective search
terms. The author describes how to increase relevancy and minimize cost through proper
research, effective correlation of ad groups to keyword phrases, and attention-grabbing ad
writing techniques.
The subject of how to write compelling ads is covered in more than adequate detail, and
numerous practical examples are provided. I don’t appreciate the author’s propensity for
using gambling and seducing women as example subjects. In my ratings area I dock AdWords
Miracle a couple of points in the “Ethics” area because of this. However, that is a
personal matter that others may not find so bothersome. There are some interesting
variations on the psychology of advertising that will help the reader to write ads that
get noticed.
The reader will learn how to make practical use of the tools that Google provides their
AdWords members with, such as their Campaign Manager, Traffic Estimator, split-testing,
and bidding and budgeting tools. Again, changes to the default settings are emphasized so
as to maximize profits.
The author recommends promoting a portfolio of products rather than just one or two, and
provides good insight on how to locate niche products that are not overly-competitive. He
describes both direct linking and review page methods of AdWords linking, but doesn’t give
much information in regard to how to actually host, design, and upload a review page.
Fortunately, there are more than ample tutorials on the internet on how to actually set up
a simple website in a short time and at a low cost. Still, given the fact that this manual
is aimed at people who don’t necessarily have a lot of internet expertise, at least a few
links to such tutorials would have made AdWords Miracle more complete.
The author’s section on keyword research is brief and direct. Although there are better
resources on the subject of keyword research, there is more than enough information for a
beginner to get off to a good start.
At the time of this review, AdWords Miracle includes several bonuses that have some
excellent information, and one that has some not-so-excellent information. The guide to
finding promising ClickBank Marketplace products is very insightful, especially as it
helps budding affiliate marketers to ascertain what products are likely to succeed and
what products are not worth the time and effort. A second bonus is a manual that describes
how to build an email opt-in subscription list using Google AdWords. Again, the
information in this guide is very good. Many specific resources are cited, saving the
reader from having to wonder what services offer good value and what services do not.
Another bonus is a short manual on what the author calls an “Advanced Themes Supplement”.
There are tips on how to find a good domain, how to use dynamic keyword insertion, and
some other valuable tips. However, the author also includes some questionable methods that
are in violation of ClickBank’s Terms of Service. He also provides a couple of “black hat”
SEO methods designed to trick search engine crawlers into thinking a web site is larger
and of better quality than it really is. Methods like cloaking, redirects, and pseudo
content generation can work for a while, but are liable to get a site banned or penalized
in the long run. He also endorses gambling as a potentially profitable niche. I don’t
concur with this endorsement for two reasons; first, online gambling is a highly
competitive niche and therefore not advisable for inexperienced marketers to attempt to
break into, and second, gambling is an addictive and crime-ridden industry, and I don’t
appreciate the author encouraging his readers to further it’s grip on society.
Summary
The version reviewed here appears to be 2006. The author (Chris McNeeney) for some reason
doesn’t include his name, nor the edition version. From viewing the website, I am under
the impression that the current 2007 version has been updated from its 2006 counterpart,
and some improvements have been made, which is good news for those who are considering
purchasing it now. Is reading this e-book going to make you a millionaire in short order?
Not likely. The promise of $300 to $500 a day using Google AdWords is possible, but only
after a person has built up a good-sized opt-in list and made some valuable contacts in
the industry, and gained proficiency in affiliate marketing methods. Still, Google AdWords
Miracle is a great place to get started. Despite some reservations regarding the authors
ethics, Google AdWords Miracle is well worth the time and investment for anybody needing
some advice or direction on affiliate marketing using Google AdWords and pay-per-click in
general.
Intended Audience:
Beginner to Intermediate affiliate marketers.
Pros:
- Valuable information on how to avoid mistakes when setting up a new campaign
- Numerous practical examples provided
- Real-world methods, generally sound information
- Step-by-step, easy to follow

ClickBank’s Terms of Service, and that therefore may be considered unethical or
irresponsible
- The author endorses gambling and seduction as recommended niches,
which may be jusifiably bothersome for some people
